Sorry Daddy. No Bunk beds!!

Meet my little GIRL!!! You have probably already seen my tweets in the side bar, but it is official. I saw it with my own eyes! She wasn't very cooperative, I must say. She was breech, with her back to the camera when we started the ultrasound. I had a moment of panic like we were going to be told she couldn't see it or something! The tech tried for a couple of minutes and then said she would do all of the measurement stuff first and then we'd try again. Well, after 5-10 minutes of looking around we finally got a peek. It didn't help that when she did get in the right position she had her feet in her crotch!

I have always wanted one of each and am so happy it worked out this way. The hubbs, on the other hand, wanted a little brother for Natey. I would have been happy either way, but I really wanted ruffles and Bubbalou headbands in my life too. Aaron's aunt and uncle had a girl, 3 years ago in February. When I found out I was pregnant with Nate, they gave me all of her baby clothes (before I found out I was having a boy). I have had the boxes in my attic since then! You think I was holding out hope that I'd have a girl eventually?

The winner of the Baby {girl} Day Giveaway is random number generated 6. That would be Heidi at Sacred and Profane. Let me know which gift certificate you want and email me your address!

Thanks to everyone who sent pink, frilly thoughts my way!

The big day giveaway!

As you know, today is the day I find out what munchkin #2 is! I decided that a fun way to celebrate would be to have a giveaway! It will be short and sweet since my appointment is at 2pm EST. Not Me! Monday

I haven't been playing along like I used to. I was so dedicated, so ahem, obsessed for a while with the not me madness. I think it lost some of it's luster for me when too many people began playing along. I used to be able to sneak though a bunch of random people's posts but now I look at the Mr.Linky and don't even feel like bothering. Where do I start?? How do I know if they are going to be funny? Oh well. I will throw my hat in again this week, but I make no promises of consistency. Ok people...
*******************************************************
I did not have the best intentions of leaving at 8:30 on Saturday morning to take 2, 2 year olds to ride on Thomas the train only to realize it took me twice as long to get 2 kids fed, dressed and packed than it does with one. We were not sprinting out the door at 9:30 to make our scheduled train at 10:50. I did not drive 80 miles an hour with my hubby and 2 toddlers in the car. That would be irresponsible. The freakin gas light didn't come on when we had about 30 miles to go before we arrived. I am not so OCD about running out of gas that I had to stop just in case. We did not manage to get there and sprint to the train with 2 minutes to spare. Nope, pregnant me was not running with one toddler on each hip while my gimpy knee'd hubby brought up the rear!
I did not make breakfast sausage only to realize after we were finished eating that the package said to use 3 days after opening. It was not a week since we used the first half of the package. I did not get my payback as my son said he was "tootin" only to find feces on my carpet 5 minutes later. I did not have to rush him to the bathroom and clean him off and then scrub the heck out of said spots on the floor.

I am not off for an entire week while my hubby has to work and my boy goes to daycare. I am not gloating a little at my free time. I am not a little peeved that my free time isn't exactly free as I have to sew myself into oblivion for my upcoming craft festival. I am not sitting here writing this post when I should be sewing either. Nope, not me.

This morning when I dropped my boy off, I did not stop and get an iced coffee and a donut. I so didn't think my hubby would be gone by the time I got home and, when he wasn't, proceed to hide the donut in my purse so he wouldn't see it. I am not licking the last remnants off of my fingers as I type one handed either!!

I am not so excited that, in exactly 28 hours and 40 minutes I will know the sex of baby #2. I am not going to host a giveaway tomorrow morning either to celebrate!!!

All Aboard!

I love it when the weather man is wrong.

Well, let me rephrase that. I love it when the forecast says rain all dang day after you have already purchased non-refundable tickets to an outdoor event and then it turns out to be hot and sunny. Yes, I enjoyed that very much. We had a great time. Tyler came for a sleepover Friday night and Saturday morning we managed to get everything together and head out to Edaville Railroad in MA and ride Thomas the Train. Mind you we didn't leave at 8:30 like my grand plans dictated. Nope, we managed to sprint out of the house at 9:30, speed the whole 50 some odd miles to Edaville, stop to get gas since the gas light came on and then dash like mad (no seriously, pregnant me was running pushing the boys in a double stroller!!) to make our 10:50 train ride. We were literally the last ones to board the train a whole 2 minutes before it departed. Thank God. The guy taking the tickets even commented because I parked the stroller, pulled both boys out as fast as possible, had one one each hip and my baby bump sticking out as we rushed to the train. It was all worth it as the boys took in the sites and sounds of riding the railroad, pulled by Thomas himself.
After the train ride we checked out some of the other cool engines, broke a few rules (the boys are covering the sign that says "no climbing on the engine"), rode a few more rides, ate $30 worth of nasty amusement park food and then decided to call it quits and head home for naps. It was fun, but I felt like I needed the biggest nap of all. Lord help me when number two arrives on scene. I don't know how I'm going to hang toting more than just crazy Natey around!

Random Ramblings

***Updated to include one small factoid! ***
It is Thursday and time for some random babbling to clear my head and make room for the weekend. I know tomorrow is only Friday, but that it pretty darn close to weekend in my book!
****************
First off, did you notice that this is posted during the DAY today? No? Aww, I'm kinda sad that you didn't notice I have been absent this week. Oh well! On Monday, when I came in to work, Blogger was blocked and has been all week. I almost cried. Seriously. I have no idea if this is a glitch or if the blocking was, but I did the happy dance when I clicked a link in my email and it let me onto the site. What the heck else am I supposed to do with my time at lunch? Oh, eat? I do that too...over my keyboard...which is looking pretty crumb filled at the moment. Ewww.
****************
On a super happy note, I only have 5 more days to wait for the big reveal! Oh I am getting so excited to know what's growing in my belly. I will reiterate that I have no idea how some of you can wait the whole 40 weeks and be surprised. It is just not within my realm of my possibility to be that patient!
****************
I'm taking Natey and his bestie Tyler to see and ride a real life Thomas the Train on Saturday. Thank God my hubby is coming because I can barely handle Natey on my own. Luckily Tyler is a mellow yellow kind of kid, so hopefully the sleepover and visit to the RR go over great! I think I am more excited than they will be!
****************
I am off all of next week on vacation. Thank God because I need a little break. I will unfortunately be stuck inside most of the time sewing my butt off for the craft show Liz and I are doing. I really pray I make enough stuff. It is a little scary, especially since I have no clue how much inventory I actually need!
****************
I just booked my flight to Oregon to see my friends and family. I am going alone. I will have 4 days of only mommy time. While I will miss my boys, I think I need a minute to myself before I pop out number 2 and life gets super hectic again!
****************
Oh yes, the answer to why I named my tea party post "Pip Pip Cheerio".... It was from a Backyardigans episode. They have an adventure to find the perfect cup of tea and when they drink it, they tip their pinkies up and say, "pip pip cheerio"!! Ok, I watch way toooooo much toddler TV!
****************
Well, lunch is coming to a close but I'm happy to be back during the daylight hours! Yipeee!!!!!!!!!! Wow, who knew that 3 1/2 days of no daytime blogging would have cause such withdrawls. Hmm, maybe that's why I caved and joined Twitter!

Tyler Turns Two

The second event of our crazy busy Saturday was Natey's best friend Tyler's birthday party. Yes, I know 2 year-olds don't really get the concept of best friend yet, but if Joelle and I have anything to say about it these boys will grow up as close as close can be. Joelle and I met in pre-natal yoga and had the same due date. I went a day early and she went 6 days late so the boys are one week apart.

I can see it now. Tyler is the mastermind, quietly plotting away while crazy Natey creates a diversion and they follow through with their little schemes. Then they will both smile with their sweet curls and dimples and no one will believe that they could do any wrong. Oh man, we're in trouble!
The party was lots of fun. The kids played in the grass with bouncy toys, giant beach balls and bubbles. We told Natey to try to catch them with his tongue. He almost did it too!
Since Nate just had his party last week, he didn't quite get why he couldn't blow out the candle, touch the cake or open the presents. Yes, we actually had to restrain the kid when it came time for Tyler to do his cake thing!! Look at his eyes! He really wants that cake. :o)

A few pushes, time outs (um, both on Natey's end, ugh) and lots of good clean fun later the boys were wiped out and needed a rest on Tyler's new bench.
See, they really are bestest friends! Happy Birthday Tyler-doo! We love you buddy.

Pip pip cheerio!

If anyone has any idea why I named my post that, you win a mystery prize. :)

Anyway, on with the post! Saturday was a day of many activities. Too many things to cram into one day. It was fun but exhausting! We went to pick up Natey at the grandparents house and then off to the mall for my lovely last minute shopping. Hey, I work and have a two year old. When the heck do I have time to get to the mall?? What? Don't use the lame lecture that I have known about this for, like, 2 months. It doesn't work on me. I digress... I got the present, oh and my sassy tea party hat (on an awesome sale) and it was back home to get dressed and ready for our friend Tina's Victorian Tea party bridal shower!

I love that everyone got so in to it and only a couple of girls came hatless! I felt like I should have been going to the Kentucky Derby in my awesome hat! It was so funny to see people's reactions while I drove to the party. I almost want to rock that hat all of the time so people will wonder why the heck I have it on!
Tina was actually the first friend of Aaron's I met when we lived in Vegas. She came out with some of her family and we all hung out. You'd think meeting a friend of your boyfriend, a girl, a pretty one, that he's known since middle school would be a little awkward, but I loved her instantly. She is one of the most awesome girls I have met out here in 'lil Rhody. I was so happy to be going to her bridal shower. This girl is great, not to mention wicked funny, and I'm so glad she's found her other half!!
"Hey Tina, member that time I saw you, memba??"
I still pee my pants to this day when I think of that drunken conversation!

Congrats girlie and we can't wait for the wedding.

Vlogemo***banned edition***

I'm going to get busted if the hubbs sees this, seeing as he didn't doesn't want me to post it. I'm going to use the selective listening that has become the norm in this toddler ridden house and pretend I didn't hear that. Um, ok? So this video is from last week (obviously) before Natey's birthday party, but I want to post it and don't feel like recording a different one. And since his antics kinda qualify for a performance we're rolling with it.

Everyone be thinking of and praying for Tim today as he goes in for his surgery this morning.

I ♥ {Sepia} Faces

I'm throwing my Natey's hat in the ring for this week's I heart faces kids category. I love photos in sepia! I love this face in any tone, but you know what I mean.

Head on over to I ♥ faces and check out all of the awesome entries!

Natey at 2 years old

It seems like last week I was growing you in my belly.
It seems like yesterday you were my little tiny babe in arms.
The reality is, you are my crazy 2 year old boy.
****************************************
You still try to eat the Playdoh.
***
You can hop and jump with both feet all around the house.
***
Your newest word is "poopie", but it's not what you say that's hilarious, but the way you say it.
***
You busted out a 10 word sentence yesterday.
***
You are doing way better with the hitting issues. Thanks.
***
You smile and tell me when you're "tootin or burpin" and then you say "xuse me".
***
You want to go in the yard all of the time and you stand at the slider and tell me, "need shoes on go back-a-yard".
***
You are still obsessed with dinosaurs and Batman. I disapprove of Batman, just so you know.
***
Oh, and by the way, you are still NOT Batman.
***
You have started bed time stalling tactics that get more creative by the day. Some of these requests include: water, covers, pillow, need tissue, kisses, more story, pee pee toilet, more song and "my stuck" in the crib bars.
***
You are protesting potty training just a little, but we are going to keep working on that. I'll be darned to have 2 of you in diapers come November!
***
You are still my sweet boy. You give me unsolicited hugs, kisses and tell me you love me. My heart lights up when you say it out of the blue.
***
I'm not sure what your stats are right now, but we will find out the same day we discover what kind of sibling you are going to have. It will be an exciting day to say the least.
***
Love you buddy.

You say it's Your Natey's Birthday!

Natey boy's birthday was so fun! We had been building it up that he was going to have a birthday party and he was stoked about it. He woke up in the morning and was already talking about his "dino party". All we needed for our outdoor, cookout style party was the weather to cooperate. You see, this is New England and it has been raining ALL week. I do have my mom, the guardian angel of the weather, on my side so I wasn't that worried. Of course it turned out beautifully and was the only hot sunny day we've had in over a week. Of course it then poured again last night and this morning, but that was not my concern! The other daunting task was the cake. I had mentioned before that I was going to attempt to make him a dinosaur birthday cake. I figured it couldn't be that hard, but I hadn't anticipated the frosting part being so freakin hard!! I have a new found respect for cake decorators everywhere! I think it actually came out awesome and at least it looked like a dinosaur and not a dog or something! I managed to get icing all over the board, but let's pretend that's not there, ok?
I made goodie bags for the kids and a birthday hat for Nate.

My friend Joelle's son was sick. I was so disappointed cause he's Natey's little bestie, but she brought him by, said hi and dropped off Natey's present. We wished he could have stayed but the poor kid was feeling terrible....as evidenced by the fact that Joelle had to clean puke out of her car when she got home. Oops. :o(
Nathan was geeking out when everyone sang him Happy Birthday. He looked so darn proud that it made me tear up a bit. Yes, I know that seems to be happening a lot to this pregnant mommy these days!
I even managed to get in a picture or two! The party was on the smaller side, but I think it worked out perfectly. All of the kids had a good time and there were no hitting or biting incidents which is amazing with three 3 year olds, three 2 year olds and a 1 year old on hand!!

The Baby (no more) Blues

I cried last night. It wasn't a stray tear here and there, it was sobbing. My baby turned 2 yesterday. I was sitting with my hubby and he said, "Good thing there's another baby on the way because it seems like you need it." I told him he didn't get it...and he doesn't. It isn't about Nathan not being a newborn any more. I cultivated Nathan inside my body. I felt every flutter, kick and back flip as he grew. I endured sciatica, sleepless nights surrounded by 30 pillows, swollen feet, stretch marks, and natural childbirth just to bring him into the world. He is my first child and to see him growing up makes me happy and sad at the same time. He is my baby, whether he's 2 or 32, I'll always feel that way. I know my mom felt that way about me until the day she died (and probably still). It must be a mommy thing.

Stay tuned for the birthday party post, a 2 year update, and I swear I'm going to post that vlog emotion video whether hubbs likes it or not. You all have had toddlers at one time or another and don't care if he's being ornery!!
