Random Photo Challenge: Halloween Edition

For this photo challenge we are supposed to post our favorite Halloween picture. I love this picture of the kids. The poor baby was too chubby for the body suit. She wasn't even a year and she was popping the snaps that ran up the inside of the legs. It was supposed to be an 18-24 month size! The head, however, was gigantic and required modification to not swim on her little melon. I love my little Buzz and alien girl!

Halloween 2011

As you can see our theme was Piggies and Power Rangers. Ok, so it's not really a theme, but how about cheap or free costumes? Yes, I like that theme much better. I found Natey's costume at the consignment sale I participate in for $12.50! I tried to find it online and it is a Disney costume, which was $50+ dollars if I had purchased it new (I never would). Arielle's costume I was going to buy, but that lovely trait of procrastination bit me again. I didn't know what I wanted her to be until I saw this get up. I found it online for $24 which isn't terrible, but since it was too close to Halloween, I would have had to pay $17 for shipping. That kinda defeats the purpose. I found someone at work who had it and was able to borrow it instead! I like free much better. Too bad it gets dark here so stinkin early because I didn't get good pictures, but they looked so cute and we had a great time. I will not have a great time wrestling with my a-hole will power when it comes to resisting the candy. Luckily my hubby has hidden it from Nathan me. I will pretend I don't care and not search for it. My thighs will thank me.

Halloween 2010

I love them "To Infinity and Beyond"! Nate chose Toy Story as the theme for this Halloween and, since the baby is too young to have an opinion, they were a super cute matching pair as Buzz Lightyear and one of the little aliens!

Nate's costume was perfect as is. Unfortunately, Arielle's costume was ridiculous! It was supposed to be a 12-18 month size and, I know I have a little chubster on my hands, but she was quite literally busting out of the costume. Then there was the head piece that could fit an adult! I had to perform emergency surgery on it to make it somewhat fit! I took over an inch out of the back to make it smaller, folded the part above the eyes up so she could see and had to take an inch and a half out of the neck part where the velcro was. I don't think they even tried this costume on a real child before they mass produced it! Luckily I have mad sewing skillz (wouldn't have the same effect with an s, besides, I'm cool like that) or we may have had to scrap it all together.

I cut a rocket shape out of a silver Nordstrom box (Thanks again honey for my awesome new winter coat!) and stuck it on the stroller. Too bad it was so freezing out that She only made it a block before I decided it was too cold for her. The hubbs took her back to our friend's house and hung out while the rest of us continued on with the trick or treating!

Nate loves going with his cousin! Last year they went as Batman and Batgirl and it was too cute! The most difficult part of the evening was hearing my self yelling, "NO RUNNING!!!!!" eleventy billion times. Man this kid must be deaf or just have selective listening when it comes to my voice. He fell down one set of steps and two other times because he was rushing around. Luckily no major injuries happened and he made it back in one piece.

I will leave you with one last photo from a birthday party we went to on Saturday. We borrowed this costume for the baby and Nate wore a transformer one we bought for dress up last year because I didn't want Nate to ruin his white Buzz Lightyear one with cake and God knows what else. Oh I die she looked so stinkin cute!

Halloween Festivites

A quick look back to last year....Natey was 4 months old. Obviously Halloween was more for us than for him, but we had tons of fun celebrating our first fall season with the boy. We got him neked and stuck him in a pumpkin and dressed him up like a tiger. It was so much easier to get a great shot of him when he wasn't so squirmy!

Now back to the present! Halloween was a full day of fun for Nathan. He goes to a home daycare and I love that she does fun activities with them, like making cookies. Nathan actually did a great job using the rolling pin. Of course, all of the boys got to eat a cookie and he didn't want to take his nap after that. Have I mentioned before how this kid DOES NOT need any sugar in his life??? He goes crazy!

I brought his costume to daycare with him. Rachel's twin boys are almost 3 and they love dressing up. I figured it would be fun if Nathan got to play along. The boys had the same monkey costumes last year, so Rachel dressed Nathan and her youngest, Lily, up and took some cute photos for me to see. They look like they were having so much fun.

We decided that we would take Nathan trick-or-treating with his cousin Lily. She is 2 1/2 and loves Nathan to death. She gets such a kick out of the fact that he can say her name. We only stayed out for about an hour and the kids had a great time. I must say, getting a good picture of my wiggly monkey is hard enough, but throw a flighty butterfly in the mix and you end up with lots of blurry shots. Luckily we got 1 good one out of the whole thing, though it did take a lot of effort!

After we were finished collecting candy, we went back to a family friend's house and chatted a bit before heading home. Nathan was fascinated with a skull that moved its eyes and jaw when you pushed a button. Apparently all of the other kids were afraid of it, but not him!

We had a really good time this year. Of course I shouldn't have even collected candy because now it is sitting in a smiling pumpkin bucket taunting me. I won't eat it...well, much of it! Happy Halloween every one!
